Context:

This job is in the training division of KTS Training (2002) Ltd providing a range of training, development and motivational activities to young people aged 16-18 who are disaffected and or/disadvantaged.
It is currently based at our offices in Kingswood ,but will involve working at other locations in the South Gloucestershire and East Bristol areas, namely our 2 other centres in Yate and Southmead.

Reporting to: Foundation Learning Manager

Responsibility for training/development: Training Director

Job Summary:

To engage with young people aged 16-18 who are currently not in education, employment or training. To liase with referral agencies and engage potential learners in their “own environment”.To complete all necessary induction paperwork and records.
The objective is to provide a quality service and ensure that learners achieve their goals. For the customer to see KTS staff as helpful, efficient and a catalyst to fulfilling their potential.

Job Content:

The majority of time will be spent on outreach work In the Southmead, Yate and Kingswood area, engaging young people who are not currently involved in training, education or employment. This may involve evening and weekend work as required.
Inducting the young person into the programme including completing all paperwork.
To liase and build a good rapport with appropriate referral agencies in the different locations, as well as engaging potential learners in more comfortable settings such as youth clubs. Working closely with support agencies, Connexions etc to enable the learner to deal with any personal and social barriers to progression they might have.
Working to set targets for learners on programme across 3 sites and reporting to the Foundation Learning Manager.
Maintain paperwork to agreed standards to meet terms of YPLA/ESF contracts.
Maintain company procedures and policies at all times.
Ensure quality of provision is maintained.
Other duties, commensurate with the post may be required from time to time to ensure the successful operation of the company.

Performance Standards:

Maintenance of standards set by KTS and by the Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) and European Social Fund (ESF).
All aspects of administration must be completed accurately and on time, in particular:
-Interview paperwork
-Records of referrals
Representing the company in a professional manner

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience of dealing with challenging young people age 16+ preferably in ‘outreach’ or engagement context
ICT literate
Able to maintain quality paperwork
Knowledge/understanding of support and referral agencies including Connexions
Car owner driver essential

Personal Qualities:

Able to motivate and inspire a challenging group of young people and also able to deal with associated disciplinary issues
Coaching and mentoring skills
Negotiation/mediation skills
Non – judgemental

Context:
The job is in the training division of the KTS Training (2002) Ltd, providing a range of training and development activities for learners enrolled on the FL programme, which is a Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) funded contract. The Company has locations at Kingswood, Yate and Southmead, Bristol.
Reporting to: Foundation Learning Manager.
Responsibility for training/development: Training Director


Job Summary:

To provide training, advice, support and guidance to learners enrolled on the FL programme .
The key objective is to enable our young learners to enter the world of work with confidence. The primary aim is to provide a quality service and ensure that learners achieve their individual learning and development plan, including milestones/qualifications and progression into employment and for the learner to see KTS staff as helpful, efficient and knowledgeable.
Lesson plans will be sent to the FL Manager and the cover tutor on a weekly basis so that the cover tutor can cover last minute absences and have pre prepared work to run.
It is anticipated that there will be around 40 weeks of holiday (Including the cover tutors) to cover each year. As well as sickness. Any spare time, weeks of non cover, to report to FL for further instructions.


Job Content:

To work closely with young people aged 16-18 to provide training, advice and guidance to learners as directed, taking into account individual needs and aspirations, YPLA contractual requirements and the relevant standards appropriate to the qualification and awarding body.
To design and deliver a challenging and inspiring, programme of activities to young people with particular emphasis on preparation for sustained employment. This includes job search techniques with interview skills, employment skills etc to enable them to progress either into employment, and/or further training/FE.
To prepare schemes of work and lesson plans geared to the needs of learners to ensure academic, vocational, personal and social development needs are met.
To assist with delivery of a range of qualifications. Eg; OCR Certificate in Adult Literacy and/or Numeracy, ASDAN personal development qualifications, for example, Asdan Vocational qualifications. To organise/facilitate other forms of training delivery which might be individually appropriate and to assist in the development/delivery of new programmes, as and when they may be introduced by the Company.
Completing Action Plans for learners, setting SMART targets, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating.
Continually review programme performance in conjunction with the FL Manager and the Operations Manager.
Liaise with Connexions, schools, family, support agencies etc working with the young person to enable them to gain maximum benefit from their time on FL.
Complete all relevant administration relating to learners as required to meet the terms of training contracts agreed by KTS and its customers, to an agreed standard and within the required timescales.
Keep effective and up to date records of issue/return of training manuals/text books/discs/audio-video materials and associated equipment.
To inform the MD or Administration Manager of any ICT related equipment difficulties as soon as a problem occurs.
Maintain learner discipline and Company Procedures/Policies within the Department at all times.
Ensure quality of provision is always of paramount importance.
To take part in public relations/activities relevant to the Company’s training provision, which may occasionally take place outside the normal operating hours of the organisation.
Other duties commensurate with the post may be required from time by the company, for the successful operation of the business.
