Apprenticeships are a great alternative to going into the 6th form or enrolling on a further education programme as they enable young people to enter employment, earn a salary AND undertake a nationally recognised qualification.
Almost 240,000 young people started an apprenticeship in 2008/09 whilst the completion rate rose to over 70% highlighting that employers understand the value of Apprenticeships and that young people realise that an Apprenticeship is a great way to begin a successful career.
KTS can offer you an Apprenticeship in the following skill areas:
- Business Administration
- Customer Service
- Contact Centre
- Team Leading
You will need to be between 16-24 and your Apprenticeship will last between 12 and 24 months depending on the level and which framework you are undertaking.
We can deliver Apprenticeships at level 2 and level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship) but a lot will depend on your job and whether what you are doing allows you to meet the standards at level 2 or 3.
When can I take up an Apprenticeship?
As soon as you leave school, but you can apply earlier and we will start looking for work with an employer that is suitable for you.
If you are in work already you are also eligible so discuss it with your employer.
In both cases just contact our Business Development team on 0117 9605 184 and they will explain everything to you.
What can I expect to earn when I start an Apprenticeship?
This depends on the employer but it will be a minimum of £90 per week and many of our apprentices start on considerably more (up to £160). We also encourage employers to give you salary increases as you progress through your apprenticeship.
(If you are already employed you will continue on your current salary)
What is involved in an Apprenticeship framework?
The framework content varies depending on the occupational area but using a level 2 Business Administration framework as an example it contains the following components
NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration
- Certificate in Administration Skills (the Technical Certificate)
- Key Skills Communication at level 2
- Key Skills Application of Number at level 1
Most young people will take between 12-15 months to achieve this framework and you may attend some ‘day release’ training at KTS.
SO – If you want to earn a salary, learn the job and achieve good qualifications at the same time the APPRENTICESHIP route could be ideal for you.
